Last week the UK government issued a technical notice concerning the changes to the current export control regime in the event of a no deal Brexit. This is 1 of 25 notices issued last week covering areas expected to be affected by the UK departing from the EU. The main point in this notice is the way exports to the EU will be dealt with. At the moment only a statement is required on the paperwork stating the goods are under export control but after a no deal Brexit a new OGEL will be issued. This will be much the same as the current OGEL which require you to register to use but will be a very quick process. Surprisingly there is no mention of the EU GEA’s and how they will be dealt with but we suspect they will remain the same just with the EU removed and become UK GEAs just like Australia’s AUSGEL system.
