Customs Requirements

  • EORI number: You need an EORI number for all customs operations, including filing an import declaration. Applying for an AEO status is also beneficial during customs clearance.
  • Customs declaration: Upon arrival of the equipment, your carrier or forwarding agent should file an import declaration with the Netherlands’ customs administration
  • Import duties payment: Import duties depend on the customs value (equipment purchase price plus transport and insurance fees up to the EU port of entry). The HS code of your equipment determines the import duty rate. For instance, the duty rate for machines and equipment with HS codes starting with 84 or 85 ranges between 0% and 14%.
  • Value-added tax: Import duties and VAT are due immediately after you import into the Netherlands
