ECJU Update: Records inspection / compliance visits

The Export Control Joint Unit (ECJU) has amended its inspection process regarding the use of open licences and electronic standard individual export licences (SIELs) with immediate effect.

Businesses will now be informed of the exact date when an inspection of their records will take place. Please note that this means we are no longer able to offer alternative dates. We will still try to give businesses between 4 and 6 weeks’ notice of the inspection date.

This change has become necessary because of the problems we have experienced trying to arrange on-site inspections at businesses. These issues have caused an unacceptable reduction in the total number of inspections we have been able to carry out.
